APTQI Applauds New Senate Bill to Address 2025 MPFS Cuts

On May 7, Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS) introduced important legislation to address the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) cuts for 2025, which continue to seriously impact physical and occupational therapy practices.

If passed, S. 1640 would provide a prorated reversal of the 2.83% MPFS cut that went into effect in January. It would also include a positive update for Medicare providers. Senator Marshall’s bill has been referred to the Senate Committee on Finance for further consideration.

S. 1640 is companion legislation to the Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act of 2025 (H.R. 879), which was introduced in the House by Reps. Greg Murphy, M.D. (R-NC) and Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) on January 31 and has nearly 170 bipartisan cosponsors.

APTQI strongly supports legislation to address the MPFS cuts.
