CMS Expands Telehealth Payment to Include Physical & Occupational Therapists

As the COVID-19 crisis unfolded, we asked for your help in urging the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to allow physical and occupational therapists to provide telehealth services to Medicare beneficiaries. And our advocates responded by submitting more than 1,400 comment letters to CMS!

Yesterday, CMS announced it is dramatically extending provider reimbursement eligibility for telehealth-based care services in include payment for telehealth services delivered by physical and occupational therapists.

This action is an important recognition of the valuable services physical and occupational therapists can provide to support America’s most vulnerable patient populations – especially during a time of national health crisis.

This change would not have happened without your hard work and advocacy. Thank you for all of your efforts!
